2024+ Tacoma Phone Mount That Charges Fast: MagBak Qi2 (2026)

Quick answer

For fast charging on a 2024+ Tacoma, I use the MagBak Qi2 phone mount, which sticks to the corner of the factory screen and charges at up to 25W on an iPhone 16 or newer. It's $99, comes in 8" and 14" versions, and code TV15 takes 15% off. It also fits the 2025+ 4Runner.

So, this is a paid partnership with MagBak, and I also earn a commission on the code. I've run it on two trucks: the 14" version on Marcus's 2024 Tacoma, including off-road in Colorado at 10,600 ft, and the 8" version on a 6th gen 4Runner. Here's what I found, including the parts to think about before you buy.

Why the factory wireless charger isn't enough

In our use, the factory pad on the 4th gen Tacoma added maybe 10% in an hour of driving. It can also overheat, and your phone slides around on bumps and sharp turns. It sits down low too, so you're looking down at the console to check your nav or messages.

Mounting the phone up at the screen fixes that last part. You can glance at it without looking down, and that's why this is the first mod I'd buy on one of these trucks.

Which version fits your truck

Toyota offers these trucks with an 8" or a 14" screen, and MagBak sells a separate mount for each. Both were $99 on MagBak's site when I checked on November 1, 2026. Match the mount to your screen. If you're not sure which one you have, MagBak has a trim chart on the product page.

TruckScreenMagBak model
Tacoma, 2024+8"Q2TYT8
Tacoma, 2024+14"Q2TYT14
4Runner, 2025+8"Q2TYT8
4Runner, 2025+14"Q2TYT14

MagBak lists it as compatible only with those trucks, so it won't work on a 3rd gen Tacoma or a 5th gen 4Runner.

How fast it charges

It's Qi2.2 magnetic charging. The speed depends on your phone:

Where you plug it in matters. The cable is built in, and it's a USB-C that goes to the console. For the fastest charging on the Tacoma, use the port under your climate controls. MagBak lists a 45W USB-C PD input for best speeds. On the 6th gen 4Runner I tested, the port showed about 52.5W available, so there's plenty of headroom. You don't need a separate power adapter.

Installing it

There's no drilling and no tools. MagBak says it takes less than five minutes.

  1. Wipe the top left of the screen frame with the included alcohol pad.
  2. Peel the backing off the adhesive.
  3. Line it up with the corner and top edge of the frame, then press it on firmly so it grabs the top edge.
  4. Run the cable to the console and use the included clips to keep it tidy. They fit into the plastic crevices and they're removable.
  5. Let it cure before you drive it hard.

On that last step, MagBak says to wait at least 5 minutes before putting your phone on it. I let it cure about 24 hours before hard use, especially in the cold. If you're heading to rough trails, give it the full 24.

Does it hold up off-road?

There's no arm on this mount. Arms are what let road vibration get into the phone, and without one, there's less of that to deal with. It's also got a strong magnet.

On the 8" version, I did a daily drive and a coffee run, then hit two railroad crossings back to back. It was rock solid with no arm shake. For the trail test on the 14", watch the Tacoma video above, because that's where I took it off-road.

The body is aluminum, and the face is soft so it won't scratch your phone, even without a case. It weighs 115 grams and measures 56.6 x 56.6 x 24.5 mm on the 8" version's spec sheet.

Does it block the screen or start button?

No. It sits up and out of the way, so you get full access to the start button and the screen stays visible. On the 14", it sits higher than the Off-Roam mount, and that's why it doesn't block the start-stop button or the screen.

The trade-offs

How to use the code

  1. Go to the MagBak Tacoma and 4Runner mount page and pick 8" or 14".
  2. Add it to your cart and go to checkout.
  3. Enter TV15. There's no O in it.
  4. Check that the 15% came off before you pay.

The code works on all MagBak products, including their phone cases. The magnet works great with the MagBak MagSafe case if you want the two to match.

My verdict

If you have a 2024+ Tacoma or a 2025+ 4Runner and you use your phone for nav, this is the first mod I'd buy. If you're on an iPhone 16 or newer, you get the full 25W. If you're on an older iPhone, it's still a higher, safer spot for your phone than the factory pad, just with less charging speed. For me personally, it comes down to the higher spot for the phone and no arm shake.
