Tune M1 Camper Upgrades: What I Added to My Tundra (2026)
I earn a commission if you buy through these links or codes, at no extra cost to you. I only list brands I've used or tested on my own trucks. Arcane Warrior has paid me to make videos about its products. This post is my own take.
The best Tune M1 upgrade I've added is the rain guards, because they stop the drip on you when you climb in. The rest of what I've added to my 2007 Tundra is storage and light: R4T Cubbies, a Marchal MOD Station, a GOFLUXX tri-color strip and an Arcane Warrior 108L roof case. If you run a 2nd gen Tundra with a 6.5-foot bed, look at a front bed support too.
So, I've had the Tune M1 on my 2007 Tundra since February 2025, and it gets used hard. Here's what I added, what each one actually fixes, and who should skip it. Full disclosure, the Arcane Warrior video was a paid partnership. The other codes here are affiliate codes, so I earn a commission if you use them.
Every upgrade at a glance
| Upgrade | What it fixes | Price I checked | Skip it if |
|---|---|---|---|
| Rain guards | Water dripping on you at the entry | Check with Tune | You only camp in dry weather |
| Canvas insulation | Heat in summer, cold in winter | Check with Tune | You only camp in mild weather |
| R4T Cubby | Small gear with no home | $100 each | You don't want to drill for rivnuts |
| Marchal MOD Station | Dead space in the extended section | $1,200 | Your truck or camper isn't on the fitment list |
| GOFLUXX 36" tri-color | White light that pulls in bugs | $96 | You already have lights you like |
| Arcane 108L Flex case | Not enough lockable outside storage | $399.99, mount extra | Wind noise or a light load limit bothers you |
| R4T Tundra front bed support | Bed flex on 2nd gen Tundra 6.5-foot beds | See listing | You don't have that truck |
Start with rain guards and insulation
If you're going to get an M1 or M1L, make sure you get the rain guards. Before I had them, my wife and I were constantly getting dripped on right where you climb in.
The canvas insulation helps both ways. It keeps heat out in the summer and keeps heat in during the winter. The honest limit is full daylight. Even with the insulation and the Maxxair fan, it still gets pretty hot up top when my kids take naps. The fan moves air, but it won't cool anything in broad daylight.
R4T Cubbies under the bed extension
What I like about the M1 compared to other campers is the extra space on each side. I keep board games and some recovery stuff in R4T Cubbies mounted under that bed extension. The setup fits up to four. The install takes four rivnuts, so you need a drill, a bit and a rivnut tool. If you don't have the tool, a long bolt, washers and nuts will set them.
Pick the Rivnuts hardware option when you order. That's the one Runnin4Tacos lists for the M1 bed extension, and they say to use a 23/64" bit and nothing larger. If you want water in that same overhang, they also make a mount that levels a Roam tank. It's waiting on more inventory as I write this, so check before you plan around it.
Marchal MOD Station for the dead space
This is the most wasted space in my M1 turned into the most useful. The MOD Station bolts into the extended section. On my truck, the camp chairs and table go in one bay, my REDARC QuickFit75 is mounted in the other, and the MOLLE rear panel holds the RedVision display facing the bed.
Here's the trade-off. It's $1,200, and the REDARC gear is sold separately. If you don't run REDARC, Marchal says you can use that section for gear instead.
Fitment is the other thing to check. Marchal lists it for the Tune M1 on a 2nd gen Tundra with a 6.5-foot bed and a 2nd or 3rd gen Tacoma with a 6-foot bed. A 3rd gen Tundra, a 4th gen Tacoma and the M1L aren't on that list, so ask them before you order.
GOFLUXX 36" tri-color light
This one runs on my camper doors. White is for camp chores, red keeps your night vision, and amber is for when the bugs are eating you alive under white light. It's $96, IP67, dims right on the strip and remembers your last mode.
So, one thing to look at before you buy. I run mine with a magnetic mount, but GOFLUXX's listing describes foam-backed 3M adhesive and built-in mounting lugs on a 12V strip. Check how you want to mount and power it. They also note that multiple strips can run off one switch with a splitter.
Arcane Warrior 108L roof case
I bolted this to the roof of the M1 for 108 liters of lockable, waterproof storage. It's IP67 with a hydraulic lid, and mine has quick-release mounts. That video was a paid partnership with Arcane, so here are the trade-offs from their own listing:
- The price: the case is $399.99. The quick-release bracket is optional, and the 108L mount is listed at $199.99 on top of that.
- The load limit: Arcane lists a max load of 44 lb. So this is for bulky gear, not heavy gear.
- The noise: Arcane's own FAQ says expect some wind noise.
- The size: inside it's 41.9 x 13.5 x 8.9 inches, so measure your long items first.
If you want lockable storage that doesn't take up room inside the camper, this does that.
If you have a 2nd gen Tundra, check the bed first
This isn't a comfort upgrade, but it matters. On a 2nd gen Tundra double cab or regular cab with the 6.5-foot bed, there's about an 18-inch span between the cab and the first bed brace with no support. With something like an M1 overhanging the cab, you can see the bed move up and down, and the body line stops matching the cab. I go through it in this bed support install video.
The R4T front bed support bolts in with no welding or cutting. You only drill if you want the extra holes. After it was on, the movement was drastically reduced and the body line came back almost exactly where it should be.
Weight placement matters too. On that truck there was a 1-inch lean side to side. We added leaf packs and a shim on the driver's side, then put the fridge, water tank and battery on the passenger side, and it came down to about an eighth of an inch.
My verdict
If you're buying an M1 or M1L, get the rain guards. That's the single best option I added. If you camp in hot or cold weather, add the insulation. If you need organized storage under the bed extension, look at Cubbies. If your truck is on the fitment list and you're running REDARC, the MOD Station turns that dead space into the most useful part of the camper, like it did on mine. If you need lockable storage outside the camper, look at the roof case.
FAQ
What is the best upgrade for a Tune M1 camper?
For me, the rain guards. Without them you get dripped on every time you climb in. If you're ordering an M1 or M1L, I'd add them.
Does the Marchal MOD Station fit a Tacoma?
Marchal lists the Tune M1 on a 2nd or 3rd gen Tacoma with a 6-foot bed, plus a 2nd gen Tundra with a 6.5-foot bed. The 4th gen Tacoma isn't on that list.
Is there a discount code for the Marchal MOD Station?
Yes. Marchal's code is TVO, for 5% off the MOD Station at checkout.
Does GOFLUXX have a discount code?
Yes. Code TVO takes 10% off at GOFLUXX. The 36-inch tri-color strip I run is listed at $96 before the code.
Does the Arcane Warrior 108L case come with the quick-release mount?
Arcane lists the quick-release bracket as optional, and the 108L mount shows as a $199.99 add-on. Without it, Arcane says you'd need other hardware to fix it to the roof and you lose the quick access.
