Yankum Discount Code: TVO for Recovery Ropes and Kits (2026)
I earn a commission if you buy through these links or codes, at no extra cost to you. I only list brands I've used or tested on my own trucks.
The Yankum Ropes discount code is TVO. Enter it at checkout on yankum.com. If you saw code R4T in my older video descriptions, that was the old code. TVO is the one on file now.
How to use the code
- Go to yankum.com and pick your rope, shackles or kit. Size the rope to the truck doing the pulling (more on that below).
- Add it to your cart and open checkout.
- Type TVO in the discount code box. It's all caps, no spaces.
- Check that the discount comes off before you pay.
Most stores take only one code per order. If Yankum is running a bigger sale, compare the sale price against the code and use whichever saves you more. Also, Yankum pays shipping on US orders over $200 (standard shipping), so a kit or a rope plus a couple of shackles can get you there.
Why I use Yankum
So, I wheel in Colorado with our Tacoma and Tundra, a lot of it in the snow, and a kinetic rope is part of the recovery gear I carry every time. I did a video on Yankum's Weekender Recovery Kit, and on New Year's Day 2026 we put our newer recovery gear to work on an icy Argentine Pass: kinetic rope, soft shackles and an extension, along with the winch.
Yankum's ropes are made in the USA, double braided nylon with a coating against UV and water, and they come with a 1 year limited warranty. Their 2" hitch receiver recovery point is CNC machined aluminum, also made in the USA, with chamfered edges so you can run a soft shackle on it.
That hitch point matters to me. In my winter recovery gear video I said a hitch receiver recovery point is probably the most crucial piece, and everybody should have one. I like the kind with a rounded end, because then you can use a soft shackle. If something breaks, a soft shackle just falls. A metal D-ring can become a projectile.
Which Yankum kit fits your truck
Yankum sells two kits that make sense for Toyotas, and each one comes in Essential, Weekender and Professional versions. The big difference is rope diameter. Yankum says to pair the rope with the recovery vehicle, not the stuck one.
| Kit | Rope | Shackles | Yankum lists it for |
|---|---|---|---|
| Off-Road Recovery Kit | 7/8" x 30' (rated for 5,000 to 7,199 lb recovery vehicles) | Two 7/16" | 4-door Jeeps, similar-sized SUVs, half-ton pickups |
| SUV Off-Road Recovery Kit | 3/4" x 30' (rated for 3,000 to 4,999 lb recovery vehicles) | Two 5/16" | Small and mid-size SUVs, 2-door Jeeps |
What each version adds:
- Essential: the 30' rope, two soft shackles and a bag.
- Weekender: everything in the Essential plus a 2" receiver tow point. This is the kit I did a video on, and the hitch point is why it's worth a look.
- Professional: adds a second, 20' rope and a double loop soft shackle, with a bigger bag.
For a Tundra, it's a half-ton, so that's the Off-Road Recovery Kit with the 7/8" rope. For a Tacoma or 4Runner, weigh it the way you actually wheel it. A built truck with a bumper, sliders, a rack and camping gear is a lot heavier than the brochure number. Under 5,000 lbs loaded, the SUV kit's 3/4" rope matches. Over that, go with the 7/8". I go deeper on this in my kinetic recovery rope size guide.
Rope length: get the 30 foot
All of these kits come with the 30' rope, and that's what I'd want. In my winter recovery gear video I had a 2, 3, 5 and 10 meter rope with me, and if you're only getting one, I'd get the longest one. The 2 and 3 meter are way too short for pulling someone out.
What a kinetic rope won't do
A kinetic rope needs a second vehicle. If you wheel with a buddy, which I recommend, that's fine. If you like to go out by yourself, get a winch too. And recovery can be dangerous, so use properly rated gear and safe rigging. Pull in line with the hitch point, not off to the side, and don't go past the posted ratings.
If you're just getting into wheeling a 3rd gen, recovery gear is on my list of first mods for a 3rd gen Tacoma.
My take
If you drive a Tundra or another half-ton, look at the Off-Road Recovery Kit with the 7/8" rope. If you have a lighter Tacoma or 4Runner under 5,000 lbs loaded, the SUV kit is the match. For me personally, a hitch receiver recovery point is the most crucial piece, so if you don't have one yet, the Weekender versions include it. Use code TVO and you're good to go.
FAQ
Does Yankum have a discount code?
Yes. Code TVO works at checkout on yankum.com. The code card above has the link.
Is the Yankum code R4T or TVO?
The current code is TVO. R4T was the old code, and it still shows up in some of my older video descriptions.
Can I stack the Yankum code with a sale?
Usually not. Most stores take one code per order. During a sale, compare the sale price against the code and use whichever saves you more.
Which Yankum kit for a Tacoma?
It depends on the weight of your Tacoma loaded. Under 5,000 lbs, the SUV Off-Road Recovery Kit with the 3/4" rope matches. At 5,000 lbs or more, get the Off-Road Recovery Kit with the 7/8" rope.
Does Yankum have free shipping?
Yankum pays standard shipping on US orders over $200. Expedited and international shipping cost extra.
